We use two tools as part of this prayer ministry. The first tool is this forum. We use this to keep in touch with each other. We can do this by posting in the various forums in keeping with the topic of each forum or we can also do this by sending a direct message to another user.
If you have questions about either of these things, just leave a reply to this post and someone will be able to help you.
The second tool that we use is a prayer journal. It runs in your web browser and can be found at www.Prayer-Journal.com.
If you are new to this prayer journal you will need to sign up which is a very simple process.
Once you have created a prayer journal account, please post your user ID on the User ID thread below. By knowing each others user IDs we can share our prayer requests with others.
Okay, since we want to share with each other, the next step is to create a family group. Do this by clicking on the Manage Families button near the top of your Journal home page.
On this page, you can create a new family group, or you can choose to use the "Default" group, which is fine for now.
Now, go to the User ID thread and copy all of the user IDs listed by other people. For now, you may find only one, mine:
JohnDulleck
Now, back on the "Maintain Your Families" page, scroll down the list of available users until you find each User ID on your list. Click on that name and then click on "Add To Family". Do this for each name on your list.
When you are finished, click "save Families".
Now, let's create a prayer journal entry. If you are still on the Families page, click "back" on your web browser. Now click "Add a Journal Entry".
Creating a request is easy. Just add a Title for your entry, and then add the details below that. If you want the public to be able to see your request, click the check box.
Now, if you have added at least one name to your family group, you will see another area below the check box titled, "Give Your Family Groups Special Rights To This Prayer Request".
Then you will see the name of your family group, "Default" or whatever you named it, and four radio buttons that you can click.
You can "hide" this request, allow your family to see it, allow them to respond to it, or even allow them to modify it. I'll be setting all of my requests to "respond to it" so that I can have some interaction with other members of the team. You can decide for each request what level of access you wish to give other family members.
Okay, so, if you added your name to the User ID thread, other users can see any prayer requests that you have recorded with at least read access. Now, let's look at another user's prayer requests so we can pray for them. First, click "back" on your browser.
Now click on "View Other Journals". Set the number of entries to page to 10,,, so that all names will be on one page. Now scroll down until you find my User ID, "JohnDulleck". Assuming I have already added your User ID to my family group, you can scroll down to my name and click on it, and then view all of the prayer requests that I have posted and given family access to. Now you can pray for each of my requests, or the requests of any team member.
From an individual request, you can subscribe to it, so you will be notified if the request changes, and you can respond to it, add your own inf to the request, let the poster know you are praying with them, or ask a question.
There are other Journal features as well, but these are enough to get started with. If you have any questions about using the journal, you can respond to this thread, or start a new one. Either way, someone, myself or someone else will be able to give you an answer.
God bless you as you pray!
